Non-Instructional PPA: IT - VPITR Office (VPITR) PPA Review Narrative2021 - 2022 GENERALName and Title of ManagerSteve CroweName and Title of Contributor 1Chelsy PhamName and Title of Contributor 2Bala KappagantulaDate Submitted to VP04/18/2022STUDENT SUCCESSHow does your service/office/non-instructional program focus on students?Technology plays a significant role in improving access to education. The pandemic has demonstrated that access to technology combined with the training necessary to navigate is essential for employment, access to critical services, and lifelong learning. How does your service/office/non-instructional program support students in: a. Completing their program/educational goal? b. Completing their program on time? Is there more that it can do?Implementing technology that “connects the dots” in the student journey is the next phase of educational technology. Technology could be used to support guided pathways/ redesign and transforming data into actionable information to help students complete their educational goals and connect them with the resources they need to improve their livelihood. Based on the mission of your service/office/non-instructional program, describe how you offer 'equitable services' to different student groups at Ĵý?Ĵý is committed to providing equal access to technology and information. To ensure the accessibility of online materials, including web pages, video, audio, and other media, we have committed to the following:DZپԲĴý's Accessibility Policy. Providing easy ways to request accessible media or materials and report accessibility issues. ʰDZ徱Բresources for content publishers to make their content accessible. Ensuring transparency in reporting of accessibility issues and our efforts to resolve them. Describe the services that your program/service/office has offered to the Disproportionately Impacted (DI) student groups outlined in the 2020-21AY Summary of the Strategic Plan, which includes: American Indian/Alaskan Native, Foster Youth, Hawaiian /Pacific Islander, and/or Some other race.IT continues to grow the college's capacity for DI reporting through the development of data warehouses, data lakes, and adopting data reporting tools. Are there any Disproportionately Impacted (DI) groups that are currently NOT being served by your program/office/service? What resources would you need to better serve these student groups? The work on serving DI populations is in its infancy state. Additional training and tooling are needed to develop a robust data warehouse /structure. Data warehouse infrastructure, design, and reporting tools need to be explored and developed. Please describe any equity gaps that were not identified and/or discussed in the questions above, based on your experiences at Hartnell.Digital equity, has three pillars, access to the internet, access to devices, and digital literacy. Hartnell has the opportunity to increase Digital literacy through training programs that can be offered to students, faculty, and staff. SERVICE AREA OUTCOMESPlease describe any meaningful outcomes that have been achieved from the SAOs outlined in the prior academic year.ITR would like to review the SAOs and survey the college for input on ITR’s performance.Did the activities from the prior academic year, and any subsequent dialog lead to significant change in the effectiveness and/or efficiency of this service/office/non-instructional program during the current academic year? Please describe any resources that may help/have helped you overcome these challenges. With the expansion of Hartnell’s centers and supporting technology on and off campus during the pandemic having the support of student workers made a difference in delivering technology. Future planning of technology such as the virtual desktop and softphones facilitated the move to remote work less of a technical challenge. What factors and/or challenges have influenced the effectiveness of your service/office/non-instructional program (e.g. staffing, equipment, facilities, etc.) over the last three academic years? The Office of Information and Technology Resources is a strategic partner across all areas of the college. The increase in projects, programs, devices, applications, centers, automation, and decrease in staff, and slow re-tooling have impacted ITR’s ability to keep up with the critical demands of the college. In addition, the college has been growing on aged infrastructure, which demands higher maintenance, increases downtime, and is no longer stable. Cyber security is an increasing threat and the college must prepare, train, and guard against cyber criminals. SIGN OFF / APPROVALI have certified that the information above is complete and is represented accurately. (Unit Mgr)Chelsy phamPK
